Volunteer Positions 

Search Manager & Training Committee

Peter is a volunteer with the Calgary Search and Rescue Association (CALSARA). 

CALSARA is a 100% volunteer organization committed to aiding those in distress and is a ground search and rescue team with experience in urban, rural, as well as backcountry terrain.

He is a certified Search and Rescue (SAR) basics Instructor, SAR assessor and Instructor for disaster response training. As a police officer, Peter has been a certified Search Manager for close to twenty years and has managed many criminal files and missing person searches.

Peter is a trainer and subject matter expert for lost and missing persons, man tracking and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and instructs on those topics frequently to his peers.

Outcall Coordinator & Peer Support

Peter is a volunteer with Boots on the Ground Alberta (BOTG). He is an experienced call taker and holds the position of Outcall Coordinator, managing all in-person peers support activities, critical incident defusing, and debriefings.

BOTG is a localized chapter that aims to provide anonymous helpline to First Responders and Military Members based in Alberta and offer a selection of counselling, community support, and online resources.

He is also a peer support member for the Alberta Critical Incident Peer Network (ACIPN). Volunteers are trained in best practices and deliver support in accordance with International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF) and Canadian standards. The ACIPN also provides 24/7/365 support.

ACIPN is a peer led, peer driven support network of public safety personnel for public safety personnel.
